Tuesday Tabs #27

Feels silly posting this because I have so many other things lined up to share with you. I've been at work all day though and I'm feel a little sleepy and lazy - also silly because these posts take a little longer than they should.

I hope that you're having a good Tuesday, I've been rushed off my feet, here are some of my favourite finds from the Internet this week.

Beach Party Print, Tuesday Bassen
I really like this print from Tuesday Bassen, I love all her other work too, you should definitely check her out, her store is full of quirky, humourous knick-nacks.

Georgia - Nautical, Jo Totes
I've been talking about Jo Totes' camera bags for so long now that it actually makes my heart a little hurt that I still don't own one. With yet another stylish, and pretty collection launched, I hope this will be the year I get one. I'll make it a treat for the wedding I'm shooting in October, this is my favourite of the Jo Totes bags so far, just check out the inside.

ASOS Dress in Tea Party Print
I wish that I'd seen this dress sooner as it's now sold out, as well as being half-price, it's so cute and fun, the heart cut-out on the back is a killer.

Teapot, Ferm Living

'I Thought That You Didnt Like Me' Ceramic Tile, Rob Ryan
*note to self, ask for all the Rob Ryan things for your upcoming, unimportant birthday.x

Ray Bans, Smart Buy Glasses
I picked up a pair of (rather convincing) Faux-Bans while in Turkey, but after browsing Smart Buy Glasses and seeing the bargains on offer, I'd love to treat myself to these bad-boys. Something about spending that much on a pair of sunglasses makes me incredibly nervous though, even if they're the coolest and so discounted, I always lose everything.
Link Love:
  • Print & Fold Paper Cats via How About Orange — I'll always have a soft-spot for cute paper craft even if I'm not the best at it.
  • Terri Lowe's Blogging Etiquette Guide - Part Two — Terri writes some really great stuff and this was particularly good, some great tips as well as witty, well-thought out opinions, one of my favourite blogs at the moment to read.
  • This Is Rude — Pretty rad creative collective.
  • The iTunes Festival — I must say it's hardly living up to previous line ups, but it's grown in popularity I guess and people ruin everything. Last year was actually the first time I didn't go, I could have seen Dry the River and Manic Street Preachers had I not been as poor as church mouse. However, Mumford and Sons have been added to the line-up and I've love to see Frightened Rabbit and Biffy Clyro, so fingers crossed despite lacking a bit of oomph.

  • Currently Watching: The Newsroom.
Currently Listening To: The 'Drive' soundtrack.
Currently: Crying over the bills stealing the money I literally just got paid. *boo to bills

    Monday 30 July 2012

    Brother, get in.

Here are a few snaps from the weekend, I don't want to claim that it was a particularly interesting one, particularly as I was working on Saturday evening, but I feel a lot less stressed out thanks to it. Life can be a little weird sometimes, and it's always made a little better by relaxing with the one you love.
I guess Saturday was very un-interesting, as we just went into town before going to the garden centre, very grown up. Moon was lovely enough to pick me up these pretty yellow flowers from the market though. I love Sunflowers, by the time we got them home I could have taken or left the other ones as many of them were wilted, they're keeping well now though. It's so nice to have flowers in the house .

The pink lemonade is still going strong. I bought myself a lemon squeezer yesterday and am hoping to give real lemonade a go once this batch is finished.

As a full day off, Sunday had a lot more potential to be great, sadly, a lot of time was wasted and not enough research was done and I was unable to get my car boot fix this week. We were going to take Moon's dad to Taplow, to the huge car boot we went to last week, but got halfway there before finding out that it wasn't on thanks to the rowing. The Newbury Racecourse one probably would have done the job as it was a nice enough day but we were too far out and some how we ended up in Slough at the poorest excuse for a car boot ever. There wasn't much way to make up for our poor organisational skills other than popping back to Newbury for a pub lunch and a walk along the canal. I'm sure there will be plenty of other opportunities anyway, the rain just needs to think about staying away like it's supposed to.

It was still a lovely day though, rounded up with a trip to see The Dark Knight Rises, I'm still slightly reeling from how great it was. Free cinema tickets in cases like last night are the ultimate job perk, although I'd pay full-price over and over to see it again.

This was the nicest way to wake up. The flat was so quiet, Moon was actually next to me and she was lying with us.
I think she does like us, even if she'd never admit it.

This photo reminds me of how annoyed we all were about not getting any car boot-action and just driving around that we just started laughing.

I'm pretty sure this demonstrates how unexaggerated my statement of the car boot we found being the worst one ever. I mean really, there was still hours before it was closing time, unacceptable.

We went to The Hog's Head for lunch, which is a beautiful pub, with great music, but the food wasn't that great.

    New additions to the garden.

Doll explored next door's garden, and I was so worried she was lost before discovering this. I guess I just have to get used to her being outside and going other places other than our garden, she's probably been there plenty of times, I just didn't know as I've been trying to watch her less.

It was a lot easier to tempt her out with treats than when she's wandered off elsewhere.

Long needed some quick head shots done for work, and I happily obliged, despite his deceiving get-up.

Very important task of painting my nails before we went out.

Moon's reaction to The Dark Knight Rises, ♥

Happy Monday, I hope things are going well. It's so nice to relax a little more today.

What I Wore: Cover both your ears..

Jacket: H! by Henry Holland (a few years ago)
    Dress: New Look
Necklace: Anna Lou of London for Topshop
    Belt: eBay
    Sandals: Primark
This was a really fun outfit to put together and wear, I just wish it had been a smidge warmer. I spent a lot of time in Moon's Dad's car yesterday but in between the sun when we left and the rain when we returned there was a bite in the air. I soldiered on though, even wearing this out in the evening when I headed out to the cinema with Long and Moon to see The Dark Knight Rises (which was incredible). I feel I've grown a little more confidence to step away from leggings and tights recently, which is such a nice feeling as I've never really felt this at ease before.

I've actually had this necklace for ages, although I'll admit that it fits well with the theme of patriotism that has run throughout 2012, I have it mainly as someone who finds it hard to resist cute animals hanging from jewellery (or printed on clothes).

I really love this dress, even if it's one of those one's where I have to worry about what kind of bra to wear as it tends to get a bit 'booby' in some cases. It even broke on it's first wearing, but I fixed it and love to come back to it as I adore the print and the cut.

    Base colour: 'Country Bumpkin', Topshop
Design: 'Shelton Street', Nails Inc. & eBay nail art pens.
I'm really sad as I've yet to invest in a new topcoat, so this manicure chipped really quickly. It's one of my favourites I've done in a while too, I used the ombré cheat of a sponge to get my glitter tips. I've thrown a lot of polish out so my collection is a lot more manageable and I justified picking up a bottle of 'Country Bumpkin' and 'Gypsy Night' Topshop polishes when I was in Reading the other day. The Topshop polishes are great, they go on so well with most of them only needing two coats, they're well worth it considering other polishes in the same price range. I'm in love with this burnt orange colour, I think it will be amazing for Autumn, without wishing the year away though, of course.

    Stones and Photographs.

I meant to do this forever ago but it didn't really fit with any of my other posts at the time and I wanted the 'holidayness' to die down a little first. I wanted to share this with you for two reasons, one because I wanted to show you the new bag that Moon bought me while we were away, and because I found myself carrying some odd things around without realising.

I totally love this bag, and fell for it a little when we were nosing around Marmaris and had a look in MODA. It's real leather but was pretty reasonably priced considering, it was so nice of Moon to get me a holiday gift. On my return, I also found that it's very similar to a bag from Modcloth that I mentioned in Tuesday Tabs months ago, and I actually like this one a lot more.

    Not pictured: Nikon D90 & 35mm lens

These were in here for my mum, recently wherever I go, I always bring her back stones for her fish tank, I can't really explain why I started doing it, but she's always really pleased.

I really enjoyed taking lots of instant film while we were away - I'll share these with you soon, I promise - and it was actually quite nice to carry them around in my handbag and look at them.

I've seen quite a few other 'What's in my Bag' posts, so I thought I'd give it try myself as my bag was a bit different from how it usually is. It's much more boring now though, I think, with so many more pens.
